We, at BMW Car IT in Ulm, are seeking a motivated intern to join our team and assist in evaluating and benchmarking various virtualization options using different hypervisor technologies. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with virtualization technologies and contribute to our research and development efforts.

What awaits you?

You will participate, hands-on, on the creation of a POC for this evaluation.

• Perform proof-of-concept (POC) projects on real evaluation hardware.
• Evaluate and compare different virtualization options.
• Conduct hands-on testing and benchmarking of virtualization solutions.
• Document and analyse the differences and performance characteristics of each virtualization option.
• Collaborate with the team to identify strengths, weaknesses, and potential use cases for each technology.
• Assist in the development of scripts and tools to automate testing and data collection processes.

What should you bring along?

• Strong programming skills to assist in developing scripts and tools for automation.
• Familiarity with virtualization concepts and technologies.
• Ability to analyse and document technical information accurately.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
• Familiarity with Linux operating system.
• Good English level.
• Familiar with virtualization concepts.
• Not mandatory but a plus:
• Knowledge of different hypervisor technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
• Understanding of performance benchmarking methodologies and tools.
• Familiarity with bring up software for different hardware boards like Raspberry Pi.
